Cabin Baggage
Baggage that is retained in the custody of a passenger to bring on an aircraft. Equivalent Terms: Hand Baggage, Unchecked Baggage, Carry-on Baggage Calibration
The application of specifically known and accurately measured input to ensure an item will produce specifically known output which is accurately measured or indicated. Calibration includes adjustment or recording of corrections, as appropriate.

Captain
A person qualified to be the pilot-in-command of an aircraft.

Cargo
Any property carried on an aircraft other than mail, stores and accompanied or mishandled baggage.
Note: For the purposes of handling, loading, securing and transporting, stores and COMAT are treated as cargo.

Cargo Attendant
Persons transported on board a cargo aircraft by an operator for commercial purposes to attend to specific types of cargo while the aircraft is in flight.
Cargo Barrier
A structure or net placed or located between the cargo and other areas of an aircraft to ensure cargo is prevented from:
- causing direct injury to occupants;
- causing damage to adjacent aircraft systems;
- penetrating aircraft fuel or hydraulic tanks or lines;
- blocking or nullifying escape exits. Equivalent Terms: Nine G (9G) Barrier
Cargo Compartment
An area of an aircraft designed and configured primarily for the transport of cargo, which has the systems and equipment necessary for the handling and restraint of cargo. There are different classifications of cargo compartments and, depending on aircraft type and/or configuration, some cargo compartments are accessible by the flight crew in flight, while others are not.
Compartments used to carry cargo, baggage and/or other items, which are located below the passenger cabin or main deck of an aircraft, may be referred to as the hold.
