In the event of a complete power failure, the motion platform returns to the rest position and the access way automatically lowers. Power to the access way is provided by the emergency power source. Furthermore, in the case where an emergency cut off switch is activated, power to the access way mechanism is maintained and the access way is operative via a switch located at the flight compartment exit.
Motion system and access way can be operated from outside by maintenance personnel in case of emergency.
7.1.4 Fire extinguishing system:
. Locations of fire extinguishers can be seen before entering the simulator.
. Fire extinguisher has been provided inside the simulator also next to the entry door.
7.1.5 Safe Path marking: Safe Path exit fluorescent marking can be seen on the floor of the simulator as marked by yellow lines which leads to the emergency exit door of the Simulator hall. This door is marked with fluorescent markings and a well lit 'EXIT' indication.
7.1.6 Emergency Exit window: An emergency exit window at the lower half of the entry door of simulator has been provided which can be opened by kicking it from either side in case if entry door could not be opened in case of emergency.
7.1.7 Emergency off switches: Emergency off switches are provided at the following locations inside simulator.
. Emergency Total Power off button below instructor CRTs.
. Motion off switch in Captain's pedestal area.
. Motion off switch in F/O's pedestal area.
7.1.8 Emergency Lighting:
Emergency lighting is provided in the flight compartment and at the entry platform. The lighting is powered by the emergency power source in the event of a total loss of power during simulator operation.
7.1.9 Maintenance interphone:
The following interphone systems function independently of normal simulator power.
. The maintenance interphone enables communication between simulator and maintenance personnel.
