North Atlantic Air Traffic Forecasting Group
A sub-group of the NAT SPG responsible for producing detailed forecasts for peak and off-peak movements in order to determine air traffic demand in the NAT Region.
North Atlantic Air Traffic Management
A group reporting to the NAT IMG responsible for proposing changes to the NAT Region air navigation documentation in the areas of application of separation standards; On-line data interchange (OLDI); Air Traffic Flow Management, Airspace Management and other related, pertinent tasks.
North Atlantic Communications Automation and Data
A group reporting to the NAT IMG responsible (through two sub-groups: the Aeronautical Communications sub-group; the Data Link Co-ordination sub-group) for the harmonisation of Flight Data Processing Systems; the identification, approval and co-ordination of unified application of data link and for monitoring the effectiveness of the current communications systems.
North Atlantic Implementation Management Group
A group created in January 1994 to co-ordinate and manage, on behalf of the NAT SPG, the NAT Implementation Plan which identifies priorities and sets out timetables with associated milestones for the implementation of operational improvements to the North Atlantic oceanic operations and its associated domestic interfaces.
North Atlantic Mathematicians Working Group
A sub-group of the NAT SPG comprised of mathematical and statistical experts that deals with aspects of lateral, longitudinal and composite separation. It is responsible to provide mathematical and statistical advice to the NAT SPG and any parts of its working structure. Its tasks are, inter alia, to devise methodologies to determine suitable lateral, longitudinal and vertical Target Levels of Safety (TLSs); to review and develop the Collision Risk Models (CRMs) for the lateral, longitudinal and vertical dimensions. It must also determine annually the lateral and vertical occupancies in the NAT Region and to estimate from the occupancies and from reported Gross Navigation Errors (GNEs) and height deviation incidents the current collision risk to show whether the respective Target Levels of Safety are being met. In order to support introduction of Reduced Vertical Separation Minima, it is charged with producing mathematical guidance material and analyses of height error data and airframes monitored.
North Atlantic Reduced Separation Standard Impleme
A group reporting to the NAT IMG responsible (through two sub-groups: the Operations and Airworthiness sub-group and the Airspace monitoring sub-group) for developing, inter alia, a work programme and timescales for the reductions in separation minima; to review the current methodologies with respect to collision risk and Target Level of Safety and develop new ones as appropriate in light of new technologies; and to develop a plan for introduction of the RNP concept.
North Atlantic Region
See ICAO Region.
