Radar Departure An aircraft departing at an airport served by a radar facility and in radar contact with the facility. Radar Display An electronic display of radar derived information depicting the position and movement of aircraft. Radar Identification The process of correlating a particular radar blip or radar position symbol with a specific aircraft. Radar Line The line that comes out of an extractor, containing the digitised radar data. Radar Map Information superimposed on a radar display to provide ready indication of selected features. Radar Monitoring The use of radar for the purpose of providing aircraft with information and advice relative to significant deviations from nominal flight path, including deviations from the terms of their air traffic control clearances. Radar Position Indication (RPI) The visual indication, in non-symbolic and/or symbolic form, on a radar display of the position of an aircraft obtained by primary and/or Secondary Surveillance Radar. Radar Position Symbol (RPS) A generic term for the visual indication in a symbolic form, on a radar display, of an aircraft obtained after digital computer processing of positional data derived from primary radar and/or SSR. Radar Separation The separation used when aircraft position information is derived from radar sources. Radar Service The term used to indicate a service provided directly by means of radar. Radar Statistics Program Produces a series of statistics allowing a precise analysis of the set of radar data related to the Evaluation and also displays some counters showing the user what is being read in. These counters stay visible to the user during the execution of the program within a specific window and increase in real time. Radar Track Position An extrapolation of aircraft position by the computer based upon radar information and used by the computer for tracking purposes. Radar Transfer The transfer of responsibility for the provision of radar service to an aircraft from one radar controller to another without interruption of radar service. Radar Unit That element of an air traffic services unit which uses radar equipment to provide one or more services. Radar Vectoring Provision of navigational guidance to aircraft in the form of specific headings, based on the use of radar. Radar Vertically Error See Antenna Tilt.

 
Radar Analysis & Support System-Centre Former name of SASS-C. Radial A straight line of constant azimuth from the radar sensor site. A radial test flight would follow such a line. Radio Detection And Ranging A radio detection device which provides information on range, azimuth and/or elevation of objects. The two most common types of radar are primary and secondary. Radio Direction Finding (RDF) Radio determination using the reception of radio waves for the purpose of determining the direction of a station or object. Radio Direction Finding Station A radio determination station using radio direction finding.
